Who I Am

A journey built on consistent growth

I'm MD Rasel — known online as Firasel. I'm a frontend engineer at LemonHive, where I've spent over three years building complex, production-grade interfaces for clients ranging from Oxford University to global manufacturing companies.

My path into tech wasn't straightforward. I entered a company coding challenge, placed second, and was offered an internship without a formal interview. That moment shaped how I think about my work — showing up, doing it properly, and letting the results speak.

Today, I lead projects, support junior developers, and enjoy being the person teammates turn to when a frontend challenge gets particularly complex. I'm an introvert by nature, and I've always found it easier to express myself through the work than through words.

Whether it's a product configurator handling 1.5 million combinations, a custom 360-degree product viewer, or a complex institutional platform serving thousands of users — I care about getting the details right.

My Journey

A few years in, still going

2019

First Steps

Started exploring web development alongside problem-solving with C and C++. Not fully committed yet, but the interest was there.

2020

A Year on Hold

OVID-19 and personal circumstances paused the journey. A year of patience rather than progress — but not giving up.

2021

Back to Learning

Enrolled in Programming Hero and committed 7–10 months to web development. Earned the Black Belt certification and completed the SCIC job preparation programme.

2022

The Turning Point

Participated in LemonHive's coding challenge — built a 3-page Rick and Morty app with GraphQL integration. Placed 2nd and received an internship offer without a formal interview.

2023

Joining LemonHive

Joined as an intern and served as the sole frontend developer on a two-person SvelteKit project. Transitioned to a permanent role after the internship period.

2024

Growing into Complexity

Worked on some of the team's most technically involved projects — a product configurator with 1.5M+ combinations, a custom 360° viewer, and interactive platform features for global clients.

2025 — Present

Leading Projects

Completed my first project as lead developer (Word Connection). Now supporting two junior developers and taking on broader responsibilities across the team. Now in my fourth year.

What I Bring

How I approach my work

Every Problem Has a Solution

I believe any well-considered design can be built. When a frontend challenge feels stuck, I work through it systematically — finding the approach that makes it work.

Attention to Detail

Spacing, responsiveness, and interaction quality matter to me. I try to close the gap between what was designed and what gets shipped, across every breakpoint.

Close Collaboration

I work closely with designers and product managers throughout a project — discussing feasibility early, flagging potential issues, and contributing to decisions before they become problems.

Full Ownership

When I take on a task, I see it through. If that means understanding parts of the backend, working through the weekend before a deadline, or researching something unfamiliar — that's part of the job.

Supporting the Team

I enjoy helping junior developers grow — not by giving answers outright, but by working through problems together. Building confident teammates makes the whole team stronger.

Always Improving

I'm actively expanding into backend development, practising data structures on LeetCode, and taking on more leadership responsibilities. Growth is something I take seriously.

Beyond Work

Personal projects & open source

Outside of client work, I built and maintain an open-source terminal-style portfolio on GitHub — an interactive CLI experience where visitors explore my work through typed commands. It's been a fun project to keep alive and has gathered 20+ stars organically.

I practise data structures and algorithms on LeetCode regularly, and I'm steadily expanding into backend development as I work toward full-stack capability. Open-source contribution is something I'm genuinely interested in and actively building toward.

I think staying curious is one of the more important habits for someone working in this field. There's always something to pick up from a new project, a different codebase, or a problem you haven't seen before.
